Connections and transfers

A connection stores the address and credentials of one endpoint. A transfer copies files from one connection to another.

Supported connection types

xEvolve has 13 connection types: SFTP, FTP, FTPS, SMB, NFS, Amazon S3, Azure Blob Storage, Azure Files, Google Cloud Storage, Cloudflare R2, WebDAV, OneDrive and SharePoint.

SFTP, FTP, FTPS, SMB and NFS are run by a managed xEvolve Agent that you install next to the server. The cloud types connect directly.

Add a connection

  1. Open Connections and choose New connection.
  2. Enter a name, choose the type and fill in the host, port, path and credentials the form asks for.
  3. For SFTP, FTP, FTPS, SMB and NFS, select the agent under connectivity. Install the agent first, see the Agents page.
  4. Choose Test connection. Save the connection when the test passes.

Credentials are encrypted at rest with AES-GCM. The form never shows a stored secret again; leave the field unchanged when you edit a connection.

Run a transfer

  1. Open Transfers and choose New transfer.
  2. Pick the source connection and path, and the destination connection and path.
  3. Start the transfer and follow it under Jobs. A job shows its status, file count and bytes moved.
  4. Every transfer writes an activity entry with the actor, the route, the file name, the size, the result and the client IP.

Paths can use global parameters written as ${name}, for example ${archive_root}/exports. Define parameters in Parameters. Secret parameters are encrypted and masked. A transfer stops if a name is missing.
